Preserving legacy

Weeksville Heritage Center is a multidisciplinary museum dedicated to preserving the history of the 19th century African American community of Weeksville, Brooklyn - one of America’s many free black communities.

Idea

  • Create art, design and experiences to convey the deep power and conncecitiy of the instutuon.

  • Use targeted events to increae community interest and support for the institution.

  • Design and manage fund raising efforts Results

Result

  • Designed exhibit installations that used historical activism to propel and inspire current and future activism

  • Created comprehensive programming that used various forms of media and interactive experiences including panel discussions, film screenings, dance party, etc as fund raising effort.

  • Created and installed original pieces that empowered the community with positive imagery
